Cuban salsa or Casino ?
Casino is the proper name given to the Cuban way of dancing the music known across the world as "Salsa"./ (remember, "Salsa" itself being a marketing term, the proper name of these rhythms are Son, Guaracha, Son Montuno, etc...). Casino in itself is an evolution of an even older style called Son.
Casino developed in the early 1950s, meaning it predates the term "Salsa" and is one of the oldest styles. Being in South Florida, 3 Plus 2 Cuban Dance Co. prides itself on teaching and spreading the love of Cuban dance and culture with good technique and grace. Casino can be danced either in a Rueda (various couples doing moves with a person calling the moves out) or it can be danced one on one as a couple. Good Casino is characterized by rhythmical cadence to the music, fluid turn patterns and spontaneouity. |
3 plUS 2 TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
3 Plus 2 Cuban Dance Company's teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that correct leading, following techniques, rhythm and coordination are what is essential to make a great social dancer.
As opposed to different Cuban schools in Miami, we teach to dance one on one (rather than in a rueda), as learning one on one makes up most of the time you will be dancing out in the real world, as well as if you are a good one on one dancer, you will be a great rueda dancer as well, while the opposite is seldom the case.
Body movement and coordination! Dancing is not just doing endless turn patterns, a great Latin dancer should be able to understand how to move their body. Not a natural at it? No problem! We specialize in teaching good technique for body movement and will get you looking smooth and with flavor in no time.
